Families of July uprising martyrs and injured to be rehabilitated with utmost dignity: Faruk E Azam

CHATTOGRAM, July 16, 2025(BSS) - Liberation War Affairs Adviser Faruk E Azam today said that the government is committed to rehabilitating the families of those injured and killed during the July uprising with the highest dignity.

He made the remarks at an event marking the inauguration of street memory stamps at Bahaddarhat and Muradpur intersections in Chattogram this afternoon. 

The initiative, a joint effort by the Chattogram City Corporation and the district administration, honors the martyrs of the July-August mass uprising.

Faruk E Azam emphasized that permanent memorials are being established at 864 sites nationwide where martyrs lost their lives. This initiative aims to prevent future governments from adopting authoritarian practices by preserving the memory of these sacrifices visibly across the country.

Responding to questions about the trial process of the July massacre, he said that the trial is progressing quickly and they aim to complete the judicial process while maintaining international standards. To ensure transparency, the trials are being broadcast live.

The adviser also announced that the government plans to establish a dedicated department to provide maximum support to the families of the injured and deceased from the July incident.

This department will work to improve their living conditions and ensure they do not have to face inhumane hardships. Government efforts will continue to help these families live dignified and secure lives.

The event was attended by Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin, Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam and officials from various administrative levels.
