KHULNA, July 16, 2025 (BSS) - The National Citizen Party (NCP) today demanded the arrest of those involved in attacking its rally in Gopalganj within 24 hours.

The party has also announced to hold nationwide rallies tomorrow (Thursday) protesting the incident.

The announcement was made by NCP’s central convener Nahid Islam at a press conference held at the Khulna Press Club around 9:30 pm on Wednesday.

At the press conference, Nahid Islam described the incident in Gopalganj as heinous act and alleged that terrorists from the banned and outlawed organization Bangladesh Chhatra League, an affiliated body of "fallen autocratic and fascist" Awami League, were responsible.

“These militants are now carrying out terrorist attacks. The true face of the fascists has once again been exposed. This is not limited to Gopalganj, they are planning militant attacks across the country,” he said.

He further alleged that NCP activists were obstructed at various points in Gopalganj, and their motorcade was also attacked.

“Three of our activists were injured, and six vehicles were damaged in the attack,” Nahid added.

He criticized law enforcing agencies for failing to prevent the incident, saying, “There was clear negligence on the part of the police,”

He affirmed that the NCP’s scheduled programs would continue despite the obstacles. “We have a rally in Faridpur tomorrow, and we will go ahead with it. However, programs in Madaripur and Shariatpur have been temporarily suspended.”
The press conference was also addressed by the party’s member secretary Akhtar Hossain and other central leaders.

Meanwhile, the NCP delegation has safely returned to Khulna from Gopalganj.
They arrived in Khulna Wednesday evening.
