Water level in 47 rivers rises, 73 falls: FFWC

DHAKA, July 17, 2025 (BSS) - Water levels at 47 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise while 73 stations recorded fall.

Among the 119 monitored river stations, water levels at seven station have remained steady while all rivers are flowing below danger level, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said here today.

The water level of the Ganges is rising while the water level of the Padma is falling; the water levels of these rivers may continue to rise over the next 5 days, but are expected to flow below their danger levels, the FFWC bulletin said. 

In this basin, moderate to moderately heavy rainfall is likely over the next 5 days, it said adding the water level of the Surma River remains steady; on the other hand, the water level of the Kushiyara River is falling and is flowing below its danger level. The water levels of these rivers may rise over the next 3 days.
 
The water levels of the Brahmaputra and Jamuna rivers are falling; over the next 3 days the water level of the Brahmaputra may continue to fall and then remain steady for the following 2 days, while the water level of the Jamuna may continue to fall over the next 5 days, and both are expected to flow below their danger levels. 

In this basin, light to moderate rainfall is expected for the next 2 days and moderate to moderately heavy rainfall is expected for the following 3 days.
 
The water level of the Teesta River is rising, while the water levels of the Dharla and Dudhkumar rivers remain steady, all flowing below their danger levels.

Over the next 2 days, the water levels of these rivers are expected to remain steady and may begin to fall thereafter.
