JU VC mourns Uttara plane crash victims, July Uprising events postponed

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, July 21, 2025 (BSS)- Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the casualties in Bangladesh Air Force’s training aircraft crash on a school building in Uttara today. 

“The deaths of the pilot, students, and teachers of the Milestone School and College were a tragic and irreparable loss," said JU VC in a condolence message.

JU VC extended heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families, prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls, and wished quick recovery for the injured.

Meanwhile, following the government’s declaration of National Mourning Day tomorrow, JU postponed all July Uprising events, including the 'Odommya-24' memorial unveiling.

Classes will remain suspended, but scheduled exams will be held. The national flag will be hoisted at half-mast and special prayers shall be offered for the victims.
