DHAKA, July 22, 2025 (BSS) - The nation is today observing a one-day state mourning over deaths and injuries in the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) training aircraft at Milestone School and College in the capital's Uttara Diabari area.

As part of the observing the mourning day, the national flag is being flown at half-mast at all government, semi-government, autonomous, and private institutions, including educational institutes across the country, as well as at all Bangladesh missions abroad.

A total of 27 people have so far been killed after the BAF aircraft crashed into the school building in Uttara, Professor Md Sayedur Rahman, the chief adviser's special assistant for health and family welfare, confirmed this morning.

At least 78 people are undergoing treatment at different hospitals and five of them are in critical condition, he said.

Special prayers are being offered today at mosques and other places of worship across the country, seeking the early recovery of the injured and eternal peace for those who lost their lives in the plane crash.
