DHAKA, July 22, 2025 (BSS) – China is keen to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with all sectors of Bangladesh, including its armed forces, to support the country’s development goals, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen said here today.

“China has consistently adhered to a friendly policy of good-neighborliness toward all Bangladeshi people and firmly advanced the development of China-Bangladesh relations,” Ambassador said while delivering a lecture at the National Defence College (NDC) in Dhaka, held upon invitation.

Rear Admiral AKM Jakir Hossain, Acting Commandant of NDC, along with over 100 officers from the Bangladesh Armed Forces and representatives from foreign militaries, attended the session.

The Chinese Ambassador said that Beijing advocates the establishment of a security concept that emphasizes a common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable approach. “Hegemony, expansion or spheres of influence find no place in Chinese dictionary,” he added.

Yao said, China is committed to working with the international community, including Bangladesh, to champion an equal and orderly multi-polar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization.

He added that China aims to advance initiatives such as the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative, working towards building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Ambassador Yao noted that 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, underscoring China’s continued commitment to global peace and cooperation.

At the end of the lecture, the Chinese envoy engaged in interactive discussions with participants on topics including the Belt and Road Initiative, BRICS cooperation, and the Rohingya issue, reaffirming China’s readiness to support Bangladesh in addressing its development priorities.

China and Bangladesh are observing the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year, with both nations expressing interest in deepening their strategic partnership through enhanced people-to-people ties, economic cooperation, and defence exchanges.
