Tarique Rahman’s rare political directives for aircraft crash victims

DHAKA, July 22, 2025 (BSS) – BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has taken a rare political step for the ill-fated victims in the tragic incident of the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF)’s ‘training aircraft crash’ on the Milestone School and College campus in Uttara, urging all levels of his party men to stand by the victims from their respective positions.

The directives were issued by the party’s acting chairman last night along with scraping various political programmes as well.

The political programmes included pre-scheduled rallies of the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Krishak Dal, Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Mohila Dal on the occasion of the anniversary of the July-August mass uprising, party’s cultural programme. Besides, it offered doa-munajat praying for the eternal peace of the departed souls and speedy recovery of the injured.

Without making any delay, Tarique Rahman instantly instructed the party's Central Health Affairs Secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam to go to the Milestone plane crash site with a rescue team and a fleet of ambulances.

In addition, the BNP Acting Chairman continuously inquired about the progress of the rescue operations of the victims from London.

He ordered the leaders and workers of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal and Swechchhasebak Dal, as well as other party affiliates, to stand by the families of the victims and injured in the Milestone plane crash.

At the same time, he called upon leaders and activists of BNP’s all levels to donate blood to the injured who are undergoing treatment in various city hospitals.

Earlier, in the last meeting of the BNP National Standing Committee, special prayers were offered seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of the deceased students and pilot, and early recovery of the injured.

Held at the BNP Chairperson's Gulshan political office, the standing committee meeting, with Tarique Rahman in the chair, also conveyed profound shock and sympathy to the bereaved families, a meeting source told BSS.

Meanwhile, BNP acting chairman has assigned party’s Media Cell convener Professor Dr. Moudud Hossain Alamgir (Pavel) as the coordinator to take any steps, including post-plane crash medical treatment.
