DHAKA, July 22, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 144 political parties have applied to the Election Commission (EC) for registration ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament election.

However, the EC found lack of information after scrutinizing the registration forms of all political parties. The EC has sent letters to all the political parties giving those 15 days to correct the information.

EC Secretariat Additional Secretary KM Ali Newaz said the EC will conduct investigation about the parties that will be able to fulfill the conditions within the 15 days. The parties that will fail to fulfill the conditions there will be no investigation, he added.

A total of 144 parties have submitted application to the EC ahead of the 13th parliamentary elections. The deadline for submission of applications, along with necessary documents, was June 22.

Twenty officials of the EC Secretariat are working to prepare a report after scrutinizing the applications of the 144 parties.

In the meeting of the committee, it was decided to give time to correct the errors as per the registration rules. After scrutinizing the applications, the commission will take a field-level investigation report to verify whether the surviving parties meet the registration conditions or not.
