Nation observes one-day state mourning over aircraft crash casualties

DHAKA, July 22, 2025 (BSS) - The nation today observed a one-day state mourning over deaths and injuries in the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force  training jet on Milestone School and College in the capital's Uttara Diabari area. 

In observance of the day, the national flag was flown at half-mast at all government, semi-government, autonomous, and private institutions, including educational institutes across the country, as well as at all Bangladesh missions abroad.

A total of 31 people were killed in the crash into the school building in Uttara, Professor Md Sayedur Rahman, the chief adviser's special assistant for health and family welfare confirmed this afternoon.

Besides, at least 165 people are undergoing treatment at different hospitals. 

Special prayers were offered today at mosques and other places of worship across the country seeking the early recovery of the injured and eternal peace for those who lost their lives in the crash.
