Co-curricular activities crucial in enhancing skills, creativity: BRUR VC

RANGPUR, Aug 27, 2025 (BSS) - Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali has said the importance of co-curricular activities in enhancing skills and creativity of students is enormous.
 
"In the present era, it is not enough for students to be proficient in textbook knowledge alone to achieve success. But, it is essential to create communication skills and creativity by participating in various co-curricular activities outside the curriculum," he said. 
 
He said this today while addressing the closing ceremony of a two-day seminar on 'Academic Rules and Regulations and Prevention of Ragging' arranged for 17th batch fresh students at the university's Central Transport Camp Shed as the chief guest.
 
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the university organised the seminar presided over by its Director Professor Dr Md Tajul Islam.
 
The Vice-chancellor said that the university administration has taken various steps to improve the skills of students, including language courses and basic computer courses. 
 
He said that if the students are good, the environment of the university will also be good. 
 
"I firmly hope that this two-day seminar will play an effective role in guiding the newly admitted students in the right direction," he said. 
 
The Vice-Chancellor called upon students to immediately inform the university administration if they are victims of any kind of discrimination or ragging. 
 
Director of the University's Office of the Students Affairs Professor Dr Md Elias Pramanik and Proctor Dr Md Ferdous Rahman addressed the event.
 
IQAC Additional Directors Dr Md Abdul Latif and Dr Md Abdur Rakib were present.
