Shah-Amanat Airport earned record revenue in 2024-2025 fiscal

CHATTOGRAM,Sept 14, 2025 (BSS)- Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport has earned highest revenue in its history by carrying record number of passengers in 2024-2025 fiscal.

In the fiscal year 2024-2025, the airport earned Tk 270.49 crore, which is Tk 33 crore more than the previous year.

The growth of earning has been attributed to effective management, an increase in passenger numbers, and the collection of overdue revenue. 

According to the airport authorities, in the fiscal year 2024-2025, the airport’s expenditure was amounting to Tk 40 crore.

In the 2023-2024 fiscal year, it earned Tk 237 crore and spent Tk 36 crore. In the 2022-2023 fiscal year, it spent Tk 33 crore against an income of Tk 225 crore. In the 2021-2022 fiscal year, it spent Tk 27 crore against an income of Tk 79 crore. In the 2020-2021 fiscal year, the expenditure was Tk 26 crore against the income of 30 crore taka. 

Airport officials stated that Shah Amanat Airport was elevated to an international status in 2000 with assistance from the Japanese donor agency JICA.

The construction of a new apron area has increased the aircraft capacity to more than 20. Passenger transport has been steadily increasing year by year, with a significant rise in the last fiscal year. Revenue has also seen a notable increase, with a rise in passengers on both international and domestic routes.
Airport sources said that till June 2025, a total of three lakh 92 thousand 456 passengers have traveled on international routes through Shah Amanat Airport, nine lakh 82 thousand 540 in 2024, nine lakh 77 thousand 674 in 2023, 8 lakh 93 thousand 64 in 2022, 3 lakh 226 in 2021, 3 lakh 140 in 2020, 7 lakh 76 thousand 106 in 2019, 7 lakh 78 thousand 651 in 2018.
 
Passenger traffic on domestic routes has seen fluctuations in recent years.  A total of 6,980 passengers traveled to various destinations within the country In 2019. This number decreased to 3,890 in 2020 but then increased to 4,980 in 2021.

In 2022, the number of passengers in domestic flights rose to 11,542 and further increased to 12,276 in 2023. However, there was a slight decrease in 2024 with 10,501 passengers. Till June 2025, 6,690 people have traveled on domestic routes.
 
According to Engineer Ibrahim Khalil, the Public Relations Officer at Shah Amanat International Airport, the airport has earned record revenue this year. Passenger traffic has notably increased, contributing to the airport's success in generating significant revenue, he said.
 
Passenger transportation has been steadily increasing year by year, with a significant rise in the last fiscal year. Both international and domestic routes have seen a surge in passenger numbers, the sources added.
