3 officials of Public Works Department suspended on graft allegations

DHAKA, Sept 19, 2025 (BSS) - The Ministry of Housing and Public Works has suspended Deputy Director of Public Works Department Rashed Ahmed Sadi and its Assistant Director Bilal Hossain on various allegations of corruption and misconducts.

It was alleged that they recommended government housing allocation without considering job grade and basic salary, demanding huge bribes from applicants in the allocation of D-1 and D-2 class houses, and were involved in irregularities in the performance of duties related to the allocation of houses.

Rashed Ahmed Sadi acquired a huge amount of money and immovable assets through the government house allocation syndicate, said a notification issued by the ministry. 

Assistant Accountant of the Housing and Public Works Department Md Nazrul Islam has been suspended for various corruption allegations and misconduct, including demanding money in bribe from applicants in the name of allotment of houses, a separate notification said.
