BGB Chief visits Dhakeshwari, Ramna Kali temples

DHAKA, Oct 1, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui today visited the Dhakeshwari National Temple and Ramna Kali Mondir in the capital to inspect the overall security arrangement taken at the temples for peaceful and festive celebrations of the Durga Puja.
 
"Sharadiya Durga Puja is being held in a very beautiful and cordial atmosphere," he said while speaking to journalists after visiting the temples.
 
The BGB is working to ensure that everyone can celebrate their respective religious festivals without any hindrance, he said.
 
"There is one more day left of this year's Durga Puja. We hope it will be completed in a very beautiful and harmonious atmosphere with the collective efforts of everyone," he said.

In addition to the security of around 3,000 puja mandap along the border, the BGB is also responsible for the security of other major puja mandaps across the country, including the capital Dhaka, he said.
 
During the visits, the BGB Chief extended greetings to the followers of traditional religions on the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja and exchanged views with the president and members of the Sarvajanin Puja Udjapan Committee of Dhakeshwari and Ramna Kali Temples.
 
Additional Director General (Operations and Training) of the BGB Headquarters and Dhaka Sector Commander and other BGB officials were present.
 
Since September 24 last, 430 platoon members of BGB have been working to ensure the overall security of 2,870 puja mandaps by setting up 24 base camps in the border areas across the country, including the capital Dhaka.
 
Of the 2,870 puja mandaps under BGB jurisdiction, 1,417 are within eight kilometers of the border and 15 puja mandaps in the hilly region and 1,453 puja mandaps are outside the border areas.
 
Among the puja mandaps outside the border area, 441 are under the control of BGB in Dhaka and Narayanganj and Gazipur City Corporation, 694 in Chittagong Metropolitan City, Raozan and Rangunia and 318 in other parts of the country.
