ACC starts investigation against ex-President Abdul Hamid

DHAKA, Dec 07, 2025(BSS) - The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has started investigation against former President Abdul Hamid over allegations of causing losses to state resources for personal luxury when he was in office.

ACC Director General (DG) Md. Akhtar Hossain disclosed the information to the journalists during its regular media briefing at the commission headquarters here. 

The decision to launch the probe was made on November 18 last year, he said.

According to the ACC, the investigation concerns allegations that former President Abdul Hamid and others misused power during his tenure to cause a loss of Taka 240 million to the state through a decoration and beautification project in Nikunja-1 residential area for personal luxury as well as the allegations of accumulating illegal wealth.

A coordinated investigation team has been formed for this purpose headed by the Director (Special Inquiry and Investigation-2) of the anti-graft body.
