DHAKA, Dec 8, 2025 (BSS)-An environmental awareness campaign titled “Stop Burning Fallen Leaves” was held today at the Dhaka University (DU).

The campaign was jointly organized by DU Arboriculture Centre, DUCSU, Green Future Foundation and Paribesh Sangsad to promote clean air and a greener, more livable campus.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Khan addressed the event as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, DU Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Khan said environmental protection cannot be confined to specific programmes or days; rather, it must become a daily habit.

Mentioning various initiatives to protect the environment, the VC said,” As part of preserving the environment, the DU administration is greening the Mall Chattar, marking century-old trees and preserving safe habitats for birds.”

He urged everyone to refrain from using fireworks during the New Year celebrations, as was done last year, and to stop burning fallen leaves.

He also stressed for training programmes for cleaners.

Following the discussion, a colorful rally was brought out on the campus.
