DHAKA, Dec 11, 2025 (BSS) - The High Court (HC) today pronounced a judgment, directing candidates to must contest election under their own party symbols even if their parties are part of an alliance in the upcoming national parliamentary polls.

A High Court Division Bench of Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Fatema Anwar came up with the verdict, scrapping a rule issued on a writ petition filed by Nationalist Democratic Movement (NDM) led by Bobby Hajjaj.

Senior advocate Ahsanul Karim and Barrister Rashna Imam moved the plea before the court, while senior advocate Mohammad Hossain Lipu, Jahirul Islam Musa and Nazmus Shakib opposed it for National Citizen Party (NCP).

The writ was filed at the High Court by Mominul Amin, Secretary General of the NDM. During the hearing, BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, AB Party, and Bangladesh Congress became party in the trial. After the hearing, the bench dismissed the writ petition.
