Fire erupts at 12-storey building in Keraniganj, 42 rescued

DHAKA, Dec 13, 2025 (BSS) - A fire broke out early this morning on the ground floor of the 12-storey Jamela Tower in the Babu Bazar area of Keraniganj, Dhaka.
Fire service sources said 42 people were rescued from the building and no casualties were reported. 

Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) media officer Anwarul Islam said the incident was reported at 5:37 am, and firefighting units reached the scene within eight minutes at 5:45 am.
A total of 18 firefighting units from Keraniganj, Sadarghat and Siddiq Bazar fire stations are now working to bring the blaze under control.
However, the cause of the fire could not be determined immediately.
