DHAKA, Dec 17, 2025 (BSS) - Anti-Discrimination Student Movement today demanded an investigation into the role of all dummy candidates who participated in the 2024 national election.

The organization also urged the Election Commission to take legal action to bar those candidates who participated in the illegal and controversial election to legitimize it from contesting in the 2026 parliamentary election.

A seven-member delegation of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement led by its president Rifat Rashid today met Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon and placed the legal notice in this regard.

The organization demanded necessary measures be taken within the next seven days. Otherwise, a writ petition will be filed with the High Court seeking appropriate remedy, according to the notice.

It stated that the 2024 national parliamentary election has been widely criticized at home and abroad as a questionable, non-participatory election that failed to meet democratic standards.

It alleged that genuine political competition, effective voter participation, and the fundamental principles of constitutional democratic practice were violated in that election.
