Registration on ‘Postal Vote BD’ app opens until Dec 31

DHAKA, Dec 24, 2025 (BSS) - The Election Commission (EC) has extended the registration time for voting in the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum through the ‘Postal Vote BD’ app until December 31.

“The deadline for registration through our ‘Postal Vote BD’ app was fixed until December 25. Now it has been extended to December 31.” EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed told reporters.

He said that those who have not yet participated in the registration process can complete their registration by December 31. 

Regarding a request to remain open Bank next Saturday, the EC Secretary said, “We have requested Bangladesh Bank to keep scheduled banks open next Saturday so that the issues relevant to the nomination paper submission and any issues of the bank, if any, can be completed properly by the candidates or their agents.”

Responding to a question about following the code of conduct in the elections, the EC secretary said, "We will all follow the code of conduct. That should be our objective." 

Expatriate Bangladeshis, election officials and employees, and government employees outside their areas are registering to cast postal votes through the ‘Postal Vote BD’ app.

Meanwhile, as of 5.15 pm on Wednesday, according to the information provided on the EC website, 681,060 voters have registered. 

On the other hand, the Election Commission (EC) has already started sending postal ballots to expatriates. 

Salim Ahmad Khan, team leader of the 'Out of Country Voting System and Implementation (OCV-SDI)' project, confirmed to BSS that ballots have been sent to 168,900 expatriate voters in different countries of the world in the last five days.
