DHAKA, Jan 22, 2026 (BSS) - A flower festival was held on the Curzon Hall premises of the Dhaka University (DU) here today.

The festival was organized by the DU Arboriculture Center with the theme “Let Dhaka, the polluted City, be decorated with flowers.”

The DU Environment Council, Bangladesh Society for Ecological Research Initiative, Bangladesh Botanical Society, Dhaka North City Corporation, Bangladesh Green Future Foundation and the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) provided overall cooperation in organizing the festival.

Vice-Chancellor of the university Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan was present at the event as the chief guest.

Expressing his gratitude to those involved in organizing the flower festival, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan said that such initiatives bring peace to people’s minds. 

Emphasizing on the importance of caring for nature, he said that along with academic studies, students must play a role in environmental conservation. In this regard, the university authorities will provide all-out cooperation, he added.

On the occasion of the flower festival, saplings were planted in the Curzon Hall area. Later, a flower-themed quiz competition was held. I

n the competition, Nur A. Mehenaz Sneha, a student of the Department of Economics, won the first place, Alo Akter, a student of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, secured the second place and Mastura Mahzabin, a student of the Department of Criminology, achieved the third place. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan handed over the prizes to the winners.
