Seminar on Children Act and MoU signing held at RU

RAJSHAHI, Jan 22, 2026 (BSS) - A seminar titled "The Children Act, 2013" was held at Rajshahi University (RU) along with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the implementation of the Children Act, 2013 today.

The MoU signing ceremony between the RU Department of Law and the Ministry of Law and Justice of the government was attended as the chief guest by Vice-Chancellor Professor Saleh Hasan Naqib.

On behalf of the Department of Law, it's Chairperson Professor Saeeda Anju, and on behalf of the Ministry of Law and Justice, Additional Secretary SM Ershadul Alam, signed the MoU.

Under the MoU, the first seminar was held in the conference room of Rabindra Bhaban.
 
The seminar was inaugurated by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Mohammad Main Uddin.

The resource persons at the seminar were Professor Asma Siddika of the Department of Law and Dr. Abul Hasnat, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Law and Justice.

Professor Abdul Hannan of the department was present as a panelist.

UNICEF Child Protection Specialist Tahmina Haque and Child Protection Officer Natasha Ryan attended the seminar as technical experts.

The seminar was coordinated by Professor Saeeda Anju, Chairperson of the Department of Law, and Saidul Islam, Program Officer of the Ministry of Law and Justice. 

UNICEF National Specialist Mohammad Delwar Hossain and Head of the UNICEF Field Office Toufiq Ahmed also spoke at the event.

Teachers, researchers, and students from the Department of Law and other departments of RU, along with other concerned stakeholders, participated in the seminar.
