DHAKA, Feb 5, 2026 (BSS) - National University (NU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah today warned that the affiliation of colleges would be cancelled if they fail to properly comply with the conditions set by the university.
He said no objection or excuse would be accepted later in this regard.
The NU VC made the remarks while attending a views-exchange meeting with college principals, governing body presidents and members of the district at the Habiganj Circuit House in Habiganj.
Dr Amanullah said that in many cases teachers tend to seek affiliation only for their preferred subjects without giving due importance to students' future prospects or the demands of the labour market.
He noted that despite a growing shortage of skilled manpower in professional disciplines such as Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), there remains comparatively less interest among colleges in affiliating these subjects, even as the country prepares to face the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The vice-chancellor urged college authorities to apply for affiliation of up-to-date and demand-driven subjects to ensure alignment with job market needs and industrial requirements.
Expressing dissatisfaction, Dr Amanullah said regular meetings are not held in many colleges, resulting in students' and teachers' problems and facility-related issues remaining unidentified.
If meetings are not held regularly, these unresolved issues ultimately lead to problems and frustration among the concerned stakeholders, he added.
The NU VC also assured that the National University would continue to support creative and realistic initiatives aimed at improving the quality of higher education, infrastructure development, and the welfare of teachers and students.
