KISHOREGANJ, March 10, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md Shariful Alam today said the Prime Minister introduced the Family Card facility within just 21 days of forming the government.

He made the remarks while inaugurating a Family Card distribution programme at Shimulkandi in Bhairab upazila of the district.

Shariful Alam said the Family Card is one of the key commitments of the election manifesto aimed at benefiting marginalised and low-income people.

"Within only 21 days of forming the government, the Prime Minister launched the Family Card facility," he said.

He said initially 1,010 families in Bhairab upazila-out of 14 upazilas in the district-have been included in the programme and they have already received the financial support through the cards.

The state minister said all eligible families in Bhairab will gradually be brought under the Family Card programme.

He added that poor and low-income families will receive direct financial assistance, which will play an important role in improving their living standards.

Under the 'Family Card' programme, beneficiaries will receive a monthly allowance of Taka 2,500 through their preferred mobile wallet or bank account.

In the first phase, 37,567 women-headed families have been selected to receive the allowance.

Among others, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aslam Molla, Superintendent of Police Dr SM Farhad Hossain, local BNP representatives and beneficiaries were present at the programme.
