DHAKA, July 1, 2026 (BSS) – Applications have been invited for the British Council’s Cultural Protection Fund (CPF) 2026, which supports the preservation of cultural heritage at risk from climate change, conflict and other threats.

Under the programme, eligible organisations from Bangladesh and 16 other countries can apply for grants of up to £500,000.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the fund, which has previously supported projects in Bangladesh aimed at strengthening local capacity in heritage preservation, including improvements at the Varendra Research Museum.

British Council Country Director in Bangladesh Stephen Forbes said the programme continues to strengthen collaboration between Bangladesh and UK partners in protecting cultural heritage and empowering local communities.

The current funding round will support projects across 17 eligible countries, including Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen, Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.

Expressions of interest must be submitted by 11:59 pm (Bangladesh time) on July 20, 2026. Detailed guidelines and application information are available through the Cultural Protection Fund.
