‘MIST MAVIROV’ crowned champion at MATE ROV Int’l Underwater Robot Competition 2026 in Canada

DHAKA, July 2, 2026 (BSS) – The Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) has achieved a remarkable international milestone as its student team “MIST MAVIROV” became the champion at the MATE ROV International Underwater Robot Competition 2026 held in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada from June 23-27.

The team, formed by students of the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering (EECE), secured the top position among 77 teams from 16 countries, including the United States, Canada, China, Saudi Arabia and others, said an ISPR press release this evening.

During the three-day competition, the MIST MAVIROV team showcased outstanding engineering excellence, technical innovation, teamwork and problem-solving skills through a series of mission-based underwater robotics challenges.

The MIST authority highly commended the dedication and professionalism of the students, faculty members, mentors, and all sponsors and partners involved in the achievement, the ISPR added.
