DHAKA, Aug 3, 2026 (BSS)- Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon today held separate courtesy meetings with delegations from Australia and China at his office here.

The first meeting took place at the Ministry of Education with an Australian delegation led by Assistant Minister for International Education Julian Hill. 

Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Md. Abdul Khaleque and Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Susan Rylewere present at the meeting.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed in detail mutual cooperation in higher education, skills development and research. 

The Australian delegation highly praised the Bangladesh government's transformative initiatives in education and various other sectors.

The education minister thanked Australia for its continued support and urged Australia to further expand scholarship opportunities for Bangladeshi students.

Dr. Milon said, "We are placing special emphasis on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to transform our large population into skilled human resources. There is tremendous scope for cooperation with a developed country like Australia in this regard."

Later, another delegation led by CHEN Zhimin, vice-president of China's Fudan University, paid a courtesy call on the education minister.

Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Md. Abdul Khaleque and other representatives from Fudan University were present at the meeting.

The meeting underscored the importance of joint initiatives to advance education cooperation between Bangladesh and China.

The education minister urged the Chinese delegation to strengthen cooperation between the two countries by expanding student and teacher exchange programmes, promoting experience-sharing initiatives and enhancing collaboration, particularly in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
