DHAKA, Aug 15, 2026 (BSS) - The country's maritime ports have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal No. 3.

The well-marked low over Jharkhand and adjoining areas weakened into a low and now lies over southeast Jharkhand and adjoining areas. A steep pressure gradient exists over the North Bay and adjoining areas, said a warning message issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department this morning.

Under its influence, squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep local cautionary signal No. 3 hoisted, the message said.

All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.

Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary south or southeasterly gusty or squally winds with speeds of 45-60 kph are likely to occur over the regions of Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram and Cox's Bazar, where river ports have been advised to hoist cautionary signal No. 1, said an inland riverport warning.
