DHAKA, Aug 16, 2026 (BSS)- BNP Standing Committee Member and Political Adviser to the Prime Minister Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said that Begum Khaleda Zia never compromised on the country's independence, sovereignty, and democracy.
He made the remarks at a doa and milad mahfil organized by the Jatiyatabadi Lawyers Forum of Supreme Court on the occasion of the 82nd birthday of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia this afternoon.
Rizvi said, "The extraordinary and unprecedented harmony between Begum Khaleda Zia's words and deeds has been proven in her politics. It is for this reason, the people have not forgotten her. Neither in the government nor in the struggle for democracy she was deviate from her commitment.
"She never weakened her voice for independence, sovereignty, and the welfare of the people. She did not care about which country was powerful or how much power they had," added Rizvi.
Highlighting Begum Khaleda Zia's multifaceted contributions to women's empowerment in the country, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, the nation will never forget her contribution to women's empowerment."
Noting that Begum Khaleda Zia had deep respect for the law, he said, “She did not deviate from the legal process. She wanted to keep the entire nation under her shelter and did so until her last day.”
