RAJSHAHI, Aug 18, 2026 (BSS) - A visiting Japanese delegation at the Rajshahi University (RU) paid a courtesy call on Vice-Chancellor Professor Faridul Islam today.
At that time, they discussed the introduction of a Japanese language learning course at RU and a decision was taken in this regard.
The course will be launched for 4th-year undergraduate and postgraduate level students of RU.
During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor expressed optimism that through the language education program, opportunities will be created for students to pursue higher education, placement and internship in Japan, and future employment possibilities.
He also mentioned that this initiative will play a special role in increasing cooperation with various universities and institutions in Japan.
He further said that this initiative will make RU students more skilled and increase their prospects for higher education and employment abroad.
The Japanese delegation included Genmirai Japan Company CEO Kawamoto Yasuhiro, Director of General Incorporated Association Humming Bird Yuta Shigemori, and Executive Director of West Okayama Medical Clinic Seiji Ishimoto.
In addition, RU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Abdul Alim, Syndicate Member Professor Rezaul Karim, Director of the Institute of Bangladesh Studies Professor Mostafa Kamal, Student Adviser Professor Khurshid Alam, Director of the Office of International Affairs Professor Sajjadur Rahim, Director of the Career Counseling and Development Centre Professor Nurul Momen and others were present.
Later, the Vice-Chancellor presented souvenir gifts to the delegation.
