LALMONIRHAT, Aug 26, 2026 (BSS) –Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Asadul Habib Dulu has urged all to remain vigilant against those who create panic by spreading rumours of an artificial fertilizer crisis.
“The country has adequate stocks of fertilizer to meet farmers' needs. So, there is no need to worry about rumours of fertilizer shortages,” he said.
He said this while addressing a review meeting on fertilizer distribution and management at Lalmonirhat Circuit House yesterday (Tuesday) night as the chief guest, according to a press release issued here today.
About hoarding, the minister said legal action would be taken against any malpractice, including hoarding and black-marketing, as well as negligence (if any) in discharging their sacred duty by government officials during the fertilizer season.
Earlier, the government has formed a three-member committee to review activities related to the recruitment of fertilizer dealers and the extraction, distribution and sale of fertilizer, and to provide necessary advice and assistance to the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Disaster Management and Relief Minister has been made a member of the committee, according to a notification issued earlier by the Cabinet Division.
Lalmonirhat District Council Administrator AKM Mominul Haque also addressed the meeting with Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner Md. Rashedul Hoque Prodhan in the chair.
Officials from the district administration, police and agriculture department as well as fertilizer traders and dealers from the district attended the meeting, among otehrs.
