CHITTAGONG UNIVERSITY, Aug 27, 2026 (BSS) - The Nazrul Research Centre of Chittagong University (CU) has organized three competitions to mark the 127th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

The competitions were announced this morning in a notice signed by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Farid Uddin, Director of the CU Nazrul Research Centre.

According to the notice, students interested in participating have been asked to submit their names to the Nazrul Research Centre by September 3. The competitions are scheduled to be held on September 6 at 12:00 noon at the university's Shaheed Hriday Chandra Tarua Building.

The competitions include Nazrul Sangeet (songs), a Nazrul quiz and recitation of selected Nazrul poems. The poems designated for the recitation competition are: 'Bidrohi,' 'Proloyollash,' 'Dhumketu,' 'Sammyabadi,' 'Moharram,' 'Shatt-il-Arab,' 'Kheyaparer Tarani,' 'Agni Veena,' 'Kuli-Mojur,' and 'Roktambor-Dharini Ma.'

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Farid Uddin said the initiative aims to increase interest in and awareness of the literature, philosophy and creative works of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam among CU students. He noted that such events play an important role in introducing Nazrul's literary and intellectual legacy to the new generation.
