DHAKA, Jan 14, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia's various health check-ups at London Clinic, UK are likely to be completed by next Friday and then physicians will decide next course of treatment, said her personal physician Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain.

"It may take time till next Friday to get all the medical reports of Begum Khaleda Zia. By Friday, the doctors will try to make a plan for her next course of treatment," he briefed journalists in front of the hospital on Monday.

Dr Zahid, also a BNP standing committee member, said the physicians are now making all the necessary changes in her treatment on the basis of test reports.

"Just as the countrymen are concerned about the treatment of Begum Khaleda Zia, the doctors here are taking very good care of her," he said.

Providing details about the ongoing treatment of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, her personal doctor said that physicians from various fields including nephrology, hepatology and liver transplantation are examining her (Khaleda Zia) every day.

Dr. Zahid said Khaleda Zia never wanted to bring her physical illness to the people.

He said, "Madam (Khaleda Zia) was tortured a lot, but she always spoke about people, not about herself".

"Even today, when she came to know that you (journalists) were standing outside in the biting cold, she vehemently asked us to come to brief you," he said.

Begum Khaleda Zia sought prayers from the countrymen and thanked everyone, including journalists, the BNP leader said.

UK BNP President and Chairperson's Advisor MA Malek and General Secretary Koysor M Ahmed were present at the time.

On the other hand, UK BNP President and Chairperson's Adviser MA Malek discussed Khaleda Zia's current situation with local journalist Shahed Shafiq in London.

Quoting Malek, Shafiq told BSS: "BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman was in the hospital all day. His wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman, granddaughter Barrister Jayma Rahman and the entire family are in the hospital. Khaleda Zia feels very happy now getting her dear and near ones beside her".
