One arrested in Keraniganj over attack on mass uprising rally

DHAKA, Jan 16, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today arrested one accused in a murder case for attacking an anti-discrimination students rally from the city's Keraniganj Thana area.

The arrested has been identified as Md. Sajjad Hossain (24).

RAB arrested Sajjad from Gatarchar area of Keraniganj on Wednesday as he is one of the accused in Akter Hossain murder case, said a RAB press release. 

According to the case details, 200 to 300 people attacked a protest rally of the student movement in front of Momtaj Shopping Complex under Mohammadpur Police Station on July 19 last with firearms and local weapons.
 
Akter sustained critical bullet wounds in the attack and was rushed to the Shaeed Suhrawardi Medical College Hospital where the attending physicians pronounced him dead.
