LALMONIRHAT, Aug 2, 2026 (BSS) - Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu today said healthy cultural practice is essential for building a humane, creative and value-based generation.

Speaking as the chief guest after visiting the Jaltaranga Cultural Group in Borobari, Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila, Dulu said participation in music, recitation, drama and other cultural activities helps children and adolescents stay away from drugs, terrorism, crime and social degradation while fostering patriotism and responsibility.

He described culture as a powerful tool for developing morality, human values and national identity, adding that greater youth involvement in cultural activities would help build an enlightened, tolerant and non-communal Bangladesh.

During the visit, the minister toured the institution's facilities, observed its activities and advised the authorities on modernising and expanding its programmes. 

He expressed hope that Jaltaranga would emerge as a leading centre for music and cultural practice, producing nationally acclaimed artists to promote Bangladesh's cultural heritage globally.

Jaltaranga Cultural Group President Biplab Paul said the institution, established in 1989, has long promoted pure music and cultural education in the region. 

He expressed optimism that the minister's visit would inspire its further development and expansion.
