CHATTOGRAM, July 6, 2024(BSS) - Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said BNP is burning after seeing the good relations of Bangladesh with everyone.
Dr Hasan, also Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League (AL), said the present government wants to precede the country maintaining good relations to all following the doctrine of Bangladesh's foreign policy - Friendship to all malice towards none.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is following that policy very successfully, he added.
"BNP started saying that we have sold the country to India after coming from India. Now after coming from China, do they say that we have sold the country to China as well? Wherever we go, they say we are selling the country. My question is to BNP, how many times can the country be sold?" Hasan said.
He was addressing as chief guest at the Preeti Journalist Sammilan and cultural program held at Bangabandhu Hall of Chattogram Press Club on Saturday night.
Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Chattogram Division organized the event.
Dr. Hasan Mahmud said Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina visited India after a few days ago and now he will visit China.
"Just as we have very good relations with India, we also have very good relations with China. Just as we have very good relations with Russia, we also have very good and good relations with the United States," Hasan said.
The foreign minister said, "Bangladesh is maintaining good relations with our close neighbor India as it contributed to our great liberation war. India not only were with us during the freedom struggle, they are also helping us, maintaining good relations with us and contributing to our development, this is the success of our foreign policy".
"Many people including BNP pretend not to understand this," he added.
Dr Hasan said Sheikh Hasina's government proceed with keeping their heads high and Sheikh Hasina will not bow down to anyone, this should be remembered.
"It doesn't matter what Mr. Rizvi said in an ill-tempered mood, what Gayeshwar Babu said in a moody mood, even if Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir being an educated man spoke like an uneducated person, it doesn't matter. We want to take the country forward by protecting the dignity of our state, maintaining good relations with everyone and our Prime Minister is doing that," he said.
Terming journalists reveal the third eye of the society, Dr Hasan said media plays a very important role in running the state and society to the right direction.
The development and prosperity of Bangladesh and the improvement of the quality of life needs to be reflected in the media, he said.
BFUJ President and BSS Chief News Editor Omar Faruk presided over the function while State Minister for Finance Wasika Ayesha Khan, State Minister for Labor and Employment Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, City Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, former Information Advisor to the Prime Minister Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, former BFUJ president Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul and its secretary general Deep Azad, among others, addressed the function as special guests.
