All involved in Gopalganj violence to be arrested, 25 so far held: Jahangir

DHAKA, July 17, 2025 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) today vowed to arrest all involved in the attack on the top leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) in Gopalganj.
 
"They who have committed crimes will be arrested. There is no question to spare them. A total of 25 suspects have so far been arrested in this connection." he said while briefing newsmen on the Gopalganj incident at the Home Ministry.
  
Replying to a query, the Home Adviser said he had already asked the law enforcers to take necessary measures as no such incident will take place again.

About the current situation in Gopalganj, Jahangir said, "The situation in Gopalganj is now normal."

The Home Adviser said the law enforcement agencies have so far arrested 25 individuals in connection with the Gopalganj violence. 

In response to a question about any new operation to be launched to capture the perpetrators of the Gopalganj incident, he said a nationwide combing operation is currently going on.

“The combing operation will continue until the terrorists are arrested,” he said. 

The Home Adviser said he visited the Central Police Hospital in the capital’s Rajarbagh today as two among 10 injured cops in Gopalganj are now undergoing treatment at the hospital. 

Three more injured policemen are being taken to the police hospital for better treatment, he said.
