JU observes July Women’s Day

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, July 14, 2025 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University observed July Women’s Day today as part of the July Uprising programme.
 
Marking the day, a rally began at 11:30 AM from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and ended with a brief gathering at the Social Science Faculty premises after parading different streets
 
Addressing the event, JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan said that the women played a courageous role during July and August mass uprising. 

He said their courage and contributions had significantly shaped the July-August movement across the country. 

“We will arrange a programme soon to honour the female students who played vital roles during the movement” said JU VC.
 
The mother of martyr Alif Ahmed Siam also addressed the gathering while female participants of the movement spoke at the event.
 
Pro-VC (Academic) Professor Dr Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, Pro-VC (Administration) Dr Sohel Ahmed, Treasurer Professor Dr M Abdur Rob, hall provosts, the proctors, teachers, and students attended the event.
