DHAKA, July 15, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today placed Mahmudul Hasan Mahin
on a fresh five-day remand in a case filed over the brutal killing of scrap
metal trader Lal Chand Mohammad Sohag in the capital's Mitford area.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Minhazur Rahman passed the order as police
produced Mahin before the court upon completion of his previous five-day
remand and sought a fresh 10-day remand for further interrogation.
Mahin was initially placed on remand for five days on July 10.
In connection with the same case, a Dhaka court on July 14 placed two
brothers-- Sajib Bepari and Rajib Bepari-- on a five-day remand.
Earlier, on July 13 last, another court had placed Alamgir and Monir on a
four-day remand each while accused Titon Gazi was placed on a five-day remand
on July 12.
According to the case statement, Sohag, 43, was brutally hacked, beaten, and
stoned to death on July 9 near the gate of Sir Salimullah Medical College
Mitford Hospital.
A day after the incident, Sohag's sister Monjuara Begum filed the case with
the concerned police station in this connection.
