CHATTOGRAM, July 20, 2025 (BSS) - National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam has said the cohorts of the racist are still staying at different levels of the administration, creating problems in implementing the decisions of the government.

“We are meeting with the families of July martyrs as we are visiting across the country. We are seeing most of them are facing the same problems in getting the due honour and facilities provided by the government,” he said.

Nahid Islam made the remarks after a meeting the families of July martyrs at Hotel Saikat here today.

The NCP convener noted that he had taken various steps to address the problems of July martyrs when he was in the government.

“When I was in the government, I put pressure on the administration to take different initiatives for the families of the July martyrs and injured persons. But, those facilities didn’t reach or delayed to reach to the victims,” he noted.

He added, “The families of martyrs are not receiving the respect they deserve. Still they are facing the problems, and we are getting complaint in this regard from different areas.”

Nahid Islam said, they did not meet the families of July martyrs as the leader of any political party, but as a member of the families devoted for July uprising.

“From that perspective, we all consider ourselves as the members of a family above party affiliation. Members of the family sacrificed their lives for the country and we are striving to establish their honour,” he said.

Nahid Islam said, they are traveling all over the country on behalf of NCP and listening to the problems of everyone.

The NCP convener said a martyr welfare cell of the party has been established to provide support to the families as best they can.

The NCP leader said, they always emphasized that the political declaration or charter of July is crucial. NCP will hold a grand programme in Dhaka on August 3 to pursue the government to deliver the July Charter by August 5 according to their promise.

Families of the martyrs from Chattogram and the party's central and local leaders were present.

Later, the NCP leaders departed Chattogram for Rangamati.
