JU VC mourns death of noted sculptor Hamiduzzaman Khan

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, July 20, 2025 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan has expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of eminent artist and sculptor Hamiduzzaman Khan.

In a condolence message today, the vice-chancellor said, “With the death of Hamiduzzaman Khan, the nation has lost a renowned artist and sculptor. The Ekushey Padak-winning sculptor will be remembered forever through his creations.”

Referring to the artist’s special connection with Jahangirnagar University, the VC mentioned that Khan built the Liberation War memorial sculpture ‘Sangshaptak’ on the campus.

The Vice-Chancellor prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Earlier today, Hamiduzzaman Khan passed away at the age of 80 while receiving treatment at United Medical College Hospital in the capital.
