RANGPUR, July 21, 2025 (BSS) -Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the main accused in a rape case involving a teenage girl of Mithapukur upazila in Rangpur from the Mirpur area under Pallabi police station in Dhaka on Sunday afternoon.

The arrestee was identified as Md Badrul Islam, 35, son of Md Abdus Sattar Mia of village Kafrikhal under Mithapukur police station in Rangpur district, said a press release issued here today.

According to the release, the accused allegedly lured the victim in the absence of her parents and tactfully took her to the Mithapukur area where he forcibly raped her at around 8 pm on April 25, 2025.

Following the incident, the victim's mother filed a rape case with Mithapukur Police Station on April 27, 2025.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of RAB-13 from Rangpur and Crime Prevention Company-1 of RAB-4 from Mirpur Camp conducted a raid and arrested Badrul from the Mirpur area under Pallabi Police Station at around 5:30 pm on Sunday.

The arrested accused has been handed over to Mithapukur Police Station for further legal action.
