2 arrested in Abu Sama murder case from Chattogram

RANGPUR, July 21, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 has arrested two prime suspects in the murder of Abu Sama from Dhumpara under Patenga Model Police Station in Chattogram on Sunday night.

The detainees are Md Hashem Ali, 42, and his son Md Shahin, 22, of Thangjhara village under Hatibandha Police Station in Lalmonirhat, according to a press release issued today.

On June 27, 2025, around 11:45 am, Abu Sama, 60, was attacked with sharp weapons by Hashem Ali and Shahin while he was heading to his land on a tractor. He was critically injured and later declared dead at Hatibandha Upazila Health Complex.

Following the incident, the victim's son filed a murder case with Hatibandha Police Station the same day.

On information, a joint team from RAB-13 and the Crime Prevention Specialized Company of RAB-7's Patenga Camp conducted a raid at 10:10 pm on Sunday, arresting the suspects in Chattogram.

They were later handed over to Hatibandha Police Station for further legal proceedings.
