DHAKA, July 22, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on eight people, including Diamond World Managing Director Dilip Kumar Agarwala and his family members over graft allegations.

The other people, who have been barred by the court from leaving the country, are - Dilip's wife Sobita Agarwala, son Yash Agarwala, daughter Achol Agarwala, former president of Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) Enamul Haque Khan, his wife Sharmeen Khan, son Alif Imran Khan and daughter Labeeba Nisarat Khan.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The anti-graft body in its plea said it has received allegations against Agarwala and Enamul of amassing illegal wealth of Taka hundreds of crore through gold smuggling during the past Awami League regime. Agarwala is now behind bars after getting arrested in a couple of cases.

"He may flee the country after coming out of jail on bail. So, travel ban should be imposed on him and the rest, otherwise the investigation can be hampered," the plea added.
