Corruption to be eliminated from country: Jamaat chief

PABNA, July 22, 2025(BSS) - Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Dr Shafiqur Rahman today said corruption and corrupt people would be eliminated from the country.

"We will protest against corruption everywhere and our struggle would be continuing till the emancipation of the countrymen," he said while addressing a memorial meeting on Jamaat activist Mustafizur Rahman Kalom at Ishardi Textile High School ground here this afternoon. 

This Jamaat activist died of heart attack on way to the Suhrawardi Uddyan in Dhaka where the largest rally of the party was held on Saturday.

The Jamaat is more powerful than the tyrants of frontline or backward line and this organization is not afraid of them, he said, adding that the country would be rebuilt as corruption-free.

Dr Shafiqur Rahman said t the holy Quran is the best book for the mankind and the Islam would be materialized through the path of holy Quran.
Urging the leaders and activists of the party to be prepared for fighting against irregularities, corruption and injustice, Dr Shafiq said that the struggle would be continued. 

Remembering the deceased students of the Milestone School and College of Uttara the Jamaat chief said that the death figure in the accident is not believable, the figure would be much more than that. 

"We will extend our organizational supports to the injured students and the families of the deceased and our leaders and workers will give finance, blood and whatever they need," he said.

The Jamaat chief said that the party has already taken the whole responsibilities of the family of Mustafizur Rahman Kalom. He hoped that the family would lead their lives better than the previous time.

He later introduced Abu Taleb Mondal as the candidate for the upcoming parliament election and sought all out cooperation from the party workers for him.
 
Earlier in the morning, Dr Shafiq went to the residence of Dakop upazila Ameer of Jamaat Abu Sayeed and offered fateha at his grave and directly went to Ishardi by helicopter. Abu Sayeed died in a road accident on the way to Suhrawardi Udyan on Saturday morning.

Among others, Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Alam Khan, Ameer of Pabna Zila Jamaat Prof Abu Taleb Mondal, former ameer Maulana Abdur Rahim, Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulna Zahurul Alam Khan, Secretary Abdul Gaffar Khan and Assistant Secretary Abu Saleh Abdullah, were present on the occasion.
