RANGPUR, July 22, 2025 (BSS) - Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today advised people, who are willing to do politics, not to come into politics with a looting mentality.

“Come into politics with a mentality to remain on the streets, to love and respect people, to guard people's wealth, honor and life. Those who can do this, come into politics,” he said.

He said this while addressing a rally at Mominpur High School and College ground before visiting the grave of local Jamaat leader Md Shah Alam in a nearby village Moktarpara in Mominpur union under Sadar upazila this afternoon.

Jamaat leader Md Shah Alam died of a heart attack during the national rally of Jamat-e-Islami at the Suhrawardi Udyan in Dhaka on July 19 last.

The Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer said, “Those who can't, those who steal money from people's pockets, loot, and build mountains of wealth at home and abroad, I would request them, begging is much better than this, do that. Don't cut people's pockets like this, don't extort. Extortion is a heinous crime.”

He said, "The entire people of Bangladesh are not satisfied with the way the country is going on. They are angry, dissatisfied. Only Almighty Allah can quench this fire of anger.”

“But we have to try on the ground. An important part of that effort was the Jamaat-e-Islami’s national rally on July 19 last at Dhaka,” he added.

He said, "In the 54 years of independence, we have seen many people rule the country in turn. They have tried their best according to their capabilities.”

“But the 180 million people of this country witnessed their efforts. They witnessed their good deeds and their bad deeds as well," he said.

He said, "We want a Bangladesh where we ourselves will not extort and we will not allow anyone to extort...In Bangladesh where no one will take bribes and whoever raises his hand for bribery will have his hand paralyzed. This is the Bangladesh we want."

Dr Shafiqur Rahman further said, “By the will of Allah Almighty, with your love and support, those who will be elected as members of parliament from Jamaat-e-Islami in future will not take any government plot and not ride in a tax-free car.”

The Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer said, "First we will manage the house, then we will manage the outside too, Insha’Allah. Two laws will not work in one country. When we do not take it, we will not let anyone take it.”

He said, “We will roar inside the parliament, on the streets, we will roar with you."

Earlier, the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami landed at Mominpur High School ground by helicopter from Pabna. After the rally, he visited the grave of Rangpur Jamaat leader Md Shah Alam.

Central Majlis-e-Shura member and Rangpur District Ameer Professor Muhammad Golam Rabbani chaired the rally.

Moulana Abdul Halim, one of the Assistant Secretaries General of Jamaat-e-Islami and Regional Director of Rangpur-Dinajpur region, and Moulana Momtaz Uddin, a member of the Central Working Committee of Jamaat-e-Islami and Assistant Regional Team Director of Rangpur-Dinajpur region, addressed the rally as special guests.

Among others, Jamaat-e-Islami's Central Working Committee member and Rangpur-Dinajpur regional team member Professor Mahbubur Rahman Belal, Central Majlis-e-Shura member and Rangpur Metropolitan Ameer Vice-Principal Moulana ATM Azam Khan, Rangpur Metropolitan Secretary KM Anwarul Haque Kajal, Rangpur District Secretary Moulana Muhammad Enamul Haque, Islami Chhatra Shibir Rangpur Metropolitan President Nurul Huda, District President Feroz Mahmud and others spoke at the event.
