SAVAR, July 26, 2025 (BSS) - Md Mahbub-ul-Alam, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, today inaugurated a special sports training camp at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) in Savar, dedicated to students who were injured during the 2024 July Uprising.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Secretary paid rich tribute to the martyrs of the July Uprising, urging everyone to draw inspiration from their sacrifice and to work together for the betterment of the nation.

He said the bravery and determination shown by the youth during the movement against the repression of the previous government must not be forgotten, and their sacrifice should serve as a catalyst for positive change.

Highlighting the government's rehabilitation efforts, Mahbub-ul-Alam announced that the Ministry of Youth and Sports has undertaken two major initiatives for those injured in the uprising. These include the special training camp being operated by BKSP and a parallel program focusing on self-defense training. Both initiatives are aimed at supporting the self-employment and empowerment of the affected youth.

He noted that the training camp would initially begin with three sports disciplines, with plans to expand its scope in the future to include more areas of training and engagement.

The goal, he said, is to provide long-term opportunities for these students to rebuild their lives through skill development in sports.

BKSP Director General Brigadier General Md. Munirul Islam, July Shaheed Memorial Foundation General Secretary Shamsi Ara Zaman, and the general secretaries of three national sports federations, among others, were present.
