BHOLA, July 27, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, today said ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had destroyed the democracy of the country.

“Fascist party Awami League had oppressed us for the past 17 years. Those who were responsible for all injustices and oppressions of the past will be brought to justice if BNP goes to power,” he said while addressing the triennial conference of BNP’s Tajumuddin upazila unit at upazila parishad auditorium.

Hafiz said that the Chief Adviser wants to hold elections. But some advisors and students are misleading him to delay the elections, he added.

He said BNP is ready for the elections. It will be possible to build a democratic Bangladesh, dreamt by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, if the party leaders and activists remain united, he added.

BNP Assistant Organising Secretary AKM Quddusur Rahman spoke at the conference as the key speaker while BNP central executive committee member Abu Naser Rahmat Ullah inaugurated it.

BNP Bhola district convener Golam Nabi Alamgir, joint convener Shafiur Rahman Kiran and member secretary Raisul Alam, among others, spoke at the conference as special guests with BNP Tajumuddin upazila unit former convener Golam Mostafa Mintu in the chair.
