ACC files corruption cases against ex-Air Chief Hannan, his wife

DHAKA, July 27, 2025(BSS) - The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) today filed two separate cases against former Air Force Chief Sheikh Abdul Hannan and his wife Tahmida Begum for acquiring illegal wealth and money laundering.

ACC Deputy Director Md Tanzir Hasib filed the cases after getting the approval from the commission, Director General (Prevention) of ACC Md Akhtar Hossain told media here.

The ACC official alleged that the former Air Chief Abdul Hannan has acquired illegal wealth worth about Taka over 3.28 crore that is beyond his known source of income. 

He also made suspected transactions of Taka over 27.63 crore through his six bank accounts, the official added.

The ACC filed a case against him under corruption prevention act and anti money laundering act.

Meanwhile, the ACC alleged that Tahmida Begum, wife of the former air chief, has acquired illegal wealth worth about Taka over 1.91 crore that is beyond her known source of income. 

She also made suspicious transactions of Taka over 1.18 crore through her 32 bank accounts.

Tahmida Begum has been charged under corruption prevention act, anti money laundering act and section 109 of Bangladesh Penal Code and Sheikh Abdul Hannan has shown as an accused for abetting to his wife in corruption.
