DHAKA, July 28, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered 10,000 yaba tablets along with firearms during an anti-drug raid in the Khankarpara area of Teknaf municipality, the force said in a statement today.

The arrestee, Syed Noor, 50, son of Nur Islam, is a resident of Teknaf municipality.

During the operation, the BGB also recovered a one-shooter gun, a locally-made LG, one round of live ammunition, and an empty bullet shell.

Acting on intelligence, multiple BGB teams led by Teknaf Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Ashiqur Rahman conducted raids at several locations in Teknaf. The team cordoned off the Khankarpara area and, with the assistance of local residents, arrested the suspect from his residence on Sunday noon.

Another alleged accomplice, M. Harunur Rashid, managed to flee the scene after sensing the presence of the BGB team.

The yaba tablets were recovered during a search of Syed Noor's house, the BGB said.

Legal proceedings against the arrestee are underway.
