Parliament secretariat warns against forgery using fake D.O. letter in Deputy Speaker’s name

DHAKA, July 27, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat today warned that a forged Demi-Official (D.O.) letter has been used in the name of Deputy Speaker in an attempt to obtain undue advantages from different ministries and government offices.

The letter carried the name of the Deputy Speaker, along with a fake signature, official letterhead, and government logo and memo number.

In a press release issued today, the Secretariat said the matter had come to its notice after the forged letter was submitted to various ministries and departments.

The Parliament Secretariat categorically stated that the letter in question was not issued by the Jatiya Sangsad and that it has no connection whatsoever with the Bangladesh Parliament.
It said the unauthorized use of the name, logo, official pad or any other official identity of the Parliament through forgery to mislead government agencies or the public constitutes a punishable offence under the law.

The press release added that, following the detection of the forgery, the appropriate authorities have been instructed to take necessary legal action against those involved.

The Secretariat also urged all government and private institutions, media organizations and the general public to verify the authenticity of any D.O. letter or official correspondence purportedly issued in the name of the Bangladesh Parliament by contacting the relevant branch of the Parliament Secretariat before taking any action.
